The rustle of the saree whispers the tales of womanhood and femininity. Its folds echo the rich heritage of the past and carry with it the tales of mothers, daughters, and countless roles that women play. In India, the saree is not merely any women's clothing but an emotion that is deeply intertwined with the culture. As this unstitched flowy fabric traverses the length and breadth of the country, it becomes the artisans' muse. The fabric becomes the artisans' canvases in which they weave their exquisite crafts. As the topography changes for the country, so do the drapes and crafts of the sarees.
Curating an assorted collection of sarees for women has been most enthralling for Jaypore. Each saree is crafted with age-old craft techniques that reflect the finesse of the artisans. They are made from the finest locally sourced materials that make draping the sarees a delight. At Jaypore, we walk the extra mile to ensure our sarees are crafted with perfection by the artisans who have honed their skills with years of experience. Each saree reflects India's rich craft heritage, which is made from the finest materials. Let us take a look at our collection:
Ajrakh
Ajrakh is a thousand-year-old craft that is known for using a combination of resist-dye and block-printing methods. Natural materials such as Myrobalan (powder of Harde trees' nuts), turmeric, jaggery, tamarind paste, Manjistha roots, pomegranate bark, indigo, and many more are used to create the prints and colour the fabric. The artisans first prepare the fabric then create resist paste and put on the fabric. In the successive steps, they repeat this and put on various dyes. In the end, they boil the fabric in various solutions to reveal the vibrant colours. The Ajrakh cotton sarees for women or any other fabric are known for their rich red, indigo, and other darker shades, which are apt for any formal or casual occasion. The craft involves anywhere between sixteen to twenty-three steps. Our collection of Ajrakh sarees features the typical vibrant hues and prints of the craft.
Applique
The craft of applique is known for its patchwork. In this technique, the artisans sew together various pieces of cloth onto the main fabric, forming various designs. Traditionally, the main designs included Phool and Patti, which translates to flowers and leaves. However, with changing times, the craft has evolved to include various geometric shapes as well. Our applique sarees are created in soft and earthy colours. They are ideal to adorn for any formal or casual occasion.
Bagh
The Bagh traces its roots to hundreds of years back in Madhya Pradesh. It is a block-printing technique that uses natural dyes, such as pig, ments, and other organic materials to make the prints. The characteristic of the craft is the red or black prints over white on any lighter background. The motifs mainly include flowers, paisley, Buttis, and geometric patterns. Our Bagh sarees for women feature elaborate prints of the craft. These women's silk sarees are perfect for draping for any casual or light occasion.
Bagru
The craft of Bagru is practised in the craft's namesake town in Rajasthan. It is a process involving block-printing and dyeing the fabric using natural materials. The fabric is first treated with a mixture of goat or camel dung, castor oil, and soda ash, which is locally known as Saaj. It is then soaked in the Harda paste, which acts as the first natural mordant and helps achieve a yellow tinge to the fabric. Once the cloth is washed and dried, the artisans use hand-carved wooden blocks to make the prints. These prints can be direct dyes or resist dyes. Depending on this, the fabric is dyed, revealing beautiful colours. The process takes several days to finish and is a time-consuming one. Artisans need years of experience to master this craft. Our Bagru Kota, cotton linen, and cotton sarees for women showcase various geometric, floral, and other traditional prints. These sarees are apt for a variety of occasions.

The Zari and brocade work offers a lustrous sheen to it that is unmatched by any other women's clothing. While mentions of a similar Banarasi-like fabric can be found in the Vedic scriptures, it was only when weavers in the 14th century started using silk and Zari work that it truly started taking shape. It was further promulgated by the Mughals, making it globally renowned. Our Banarasi sarees are available in a myriad of vibrant colours.
