THE STORY
Of all the threadwork styles from Gujarat, the most famous is Rabari embroidery. Rich with details, embroidered in chain stitch and often adorned with mirrors, the craft gets its name from the pastoralist Rabari community of the region.
For this rich new collection featuring Rabari embroidery, Jaypore straddles the modern and traditional with élan. Contemporary kurtas and tops are offset by age-old motifs crafted by artisans from Gujarat. These are pieces that can start many a conversation.
Nearly all Rabari embroidery is done by women who use a simple needle and thread. It was traditionally used to adorn odhnis, bags, bedcovers and other items of household use with motifs borrowed from nature and community.
