Over the years, dupattas have transcended the traditional boundaries and emerged from being just a functional piece to a medium of self-expression. This flowy piece of fabric becomes a blank canvas for the artisan to weave their magic onto it. With India being such a diverse nation with diverse weaving techniques, the dupattas become a reflection of these weaving traditions.
Curating a collection of red dupattas from Jaypore has been an enthralling experience. Each dupatta is weaved using the age-old traditional technique and the finest materials. The motifs and patterns are a fusion of traditional and modern Indian aesthetics, making them versatile masterpieces. Ajrakh, Banarasi, Bandhani, and Lehriya are just a few of the crafts that have been used to create these dupattas.
Jaypore's red heavy dupattas are crafted using the country's indigenous techniques. Cotton, silk, cotton silk, Gajji, Kota, Mulmul, etc. Have been used in weaving them. Let us take a look at our collection:
Ajrakh
One of the country's oldest serving crafts, Ajrakh, involves sixteen to twenty-three steps to create the signature design. The artisans use a combination of resist dyeing and block-printing methods to make the prints. They mostly use natural and organic materials like Myrobalan (a powdered form of the Harde tree's nuts), tamarind seed powder, jaggery, etc., to create the designs. It takes weeks of preparation, washing, dyeing, etc., to reveal the final design. Our dupattas feature distinct prints of Ajrakh with a contemporary design that pairs well with various outfits and occasions.
Banarasi
The craft of Banarasi took shape between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries when weavers in the ancient city of Banaras started incorporating silk as brocade to weave elaborate designs. The craft includes weaving the Zari, metallic threads of gold and silver to create expansive motifs. These fabrics are known for their shine and regal look. Our Banarasi red heavy dupattas are perfect to adorn for festive or special events. They can seamlessly transition from a day-to-night occasion.
Bandhani
Bandhani is a craft whose patterns are made using the tie-and-dye technique. The artisans tie numerous minute knots onto the fabric to create the designs on the length of the dupatta. These dupattas are perfect to adorn for any festive event.
Chikankari
The craft of Chikankari originates from Lucknow. It is an embroidery craft known for its subtle elegance. The motifs mainly consist of florals, petals, leaves, and buttons, which are intricately sewn on delicate fabrics, making them a regal affair. Our Chikankari dupattas are available in soft pastel colors and are perfect for any formal or casual occasion.
Ikat
The craft of Ikat is known for its distinct, bold design in vibrant colors. The weavers first resist dying the yarn before the weaving. Once they are dyed, they are set on the handlooms precisely to get the desired patterns. The weavers then start weaving it, which can take days to complete. Using these traditional techniques, our red dupattas are made. They are perfect to adorn for any festive or light occasion.
Lehriya
The Lehriya is known for its wave-like pattern, which resembles the ripples of the sand dunes in the Thar desert. It is Rajasthan's most recognized craft, and it has become culturally significant. Our Lehriya dupattas can be paired with various outfits on festive occasions.
Jaypore's red dupattas are made from the finest of materials to offer you style and comfort fused into one. They are made from India's traditional weaving craft techniques, thus also helping preserve the craft. So, why wait? Shop from our latest collection today.
