Originating from Rajasthan, the craft of weaving Kota fabric has flourished since the 17th century. Now a globally known craft, it is famous for its unique square patterns called Khats. They are made using cotton or silk, offering a combination of soft and lustrous appeal to the fabric. The Kota Doria's lightweight, almost transparent nature has slowly made its place in every woman's closet.
With Jaypore's aim of reviving age-old craft techniques, it is truly an honour to present to you our collection of Kota dupattas. In addition to its Khat weaving technique, we have used various other craft processes, such as Ajrakh, Bagh, Block-Print, Chikankari, etc., for an elevated experience.
Believed to have originated in the 17th century, the journey of Kota Doria began when weavers from Mysore were brought to Kotah. They were specially called to weave lightweight fabrics with checks to be used in turbans. With the passage of time, the craft gradually became famous by the name of Masuria Muslin. It was under the royal patronage of Rao Kishore Singh that it became popular among the many royalties and masses alike.
Today, the Kota Doria has become famous globally, helping the Indian craft heritage bring into the limelight. Its lightweight feel and sheen make it a fabric preferred by all.
