THE STORY
Elegance doesn’t shout; it’s gentle but impactful. Much like Jaypore’s new chunari-printed collection that’s understated, with just the right amount of flourish. With the festive season knocking on our door, for this range we traveled to Akola in Rajasthan, known for its chunari printers. This might look like bandhani, but the chunari print is made using wood blocks that are over 80 years old!
Printed by national award winning craftsman Sureshji, these pieces are also speckled with khari prints - because what’s a celebration without a little shine?
The collection also features statement-making bandhani angrakhas and kurtas with jackets. This particular style of bandhani (with single white dots) is peculiar to Rajasthan. Though less elaborate than the one from Gujarat, it is as impressive.
