THE STORY
In collaboration with the traditional block carvers of Pilkuwa, Uttar Pradesh, Organic connect brings us a collection of beautifully crafted homewares. Crafted in high quality Sheesham and Beech wood, each piece carries delicate motifs, fine workmanship and the highly stylized design language inherent in the artisans' craft.

A recurring motif in this collection is the Sooraj Mukhi, shown here in the coasters and wall decor. The wood is carved in shisham wood, along the vertical grain exactly as it was done seventy years ago.

Inspired by the crafts and traditional hand skills of India, Organic Connect aims to bring to urban lifestyles finely crafted traditional products with a contemporary, utilitarian edge. They have been working on The Block Project with artisans of Pilkuwa since 2009.

Shisham cut face - block carving is done on vertical grain, as it is most stable for printing.
