THE STORY
India has had a long tradition of using colors from plants and minerals to dye fabric. Red from the aal or the Indian Madder tree, harda for shades of green and yellow and most famously, the blue shades of indigo or neel – the color so synonymous with India that the Greeks named the dye after the country. Extracted from the indigo plant, this beautiful blue dye in fact colors the cloth green and turns blue only with oxidation when left out to dry in the air.
The earthy tones of natural indigo, the interesting mud-resist prints and the minimalistic silhouettes in Jaypore’s newest offering reflect the label’s subtle aesthetic while keeping the outfits fresh, fun and functional.
