THE STORY
Hand-picked six yard creations that are handwoven by skilled artisans, these sarees are an ode to Southern India's rich silk weaving heritage. Crafted to preserve and promote authentic textile artistry, these sarees by Omnah carry traditional elements associated southern silks, showcasing the wide contrast borders and nature inspired motifs of Kanjivaram, Pochampally Ikat, Narayanpet and Gadwal silk weaves.

Three shuttles are used to weave a Kanjivaram sari. While the weaver works on the right side, his aide works on the left side shuttle. The border color and design are usually quite different from the body. If the pallu has to be woven in a different shade, it is first separately woven and then delicately joined to the Sari. The part where the body meets the pallu is often denoted by a zig-zag line.

Pochampally Ikat sarees are woven in Bhoodan Pochampally in the Nalgonda district, Telangana State in southern India. They are popular for their traditional geometric patterns in Ikat style of dyeing, where the intricate design and colouring is first transfered onto warp and weft threads and they're then woven together.

Gadwal handloom zari sarees are the pride of Andhra Pradesh, woven in traditional patterns by the master weavers of Gadwal in Mahbubnagar district. The patterns on the pallu and border, that represent South Indian culture, add to their timeless appeal. The most fascinating feature of these sarees is that they can be folded in a way that they fit in a match box!
