THE STORY
With elaborate depictions of mythological scenes and a rich silken texture, a Baluchari textile is a decor treasure. Having begun in a small village named Baluchar in Murshidabad, Bengal , the textile is now coveted across the globe. This collection of silk cushion covers is perfect to dress special corners of your home.

The process of creating a Baluchari silk textile involves cultivation of cocoons, processing of yarns and then making of the motif before weaving. Designs are first drawn on a graph paper, which is coloured and then punched using cards. These are then sewed and fixed on the loom.

Baluchari textiles are characterised by elaborate motifs borrowed from mythology, particularly the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The Ambi or stylised paisley motifs are further worked into the design with fine colours that are akin to a painting.
