THE STORY
This collection of handwoven Pashmina stoles from Kashmir celebrates beauty in the interplay of natural textures of Pashmina, the simple checkered and striped patterns woven into it and the simplicity of its color schemes. Having evolved under the patronage of Indian Royalty and considered worthy of gifts to European nobility, a Pashmina weave showcases exemplary precision and workmanship of master artisans.

Based in Kashmir, PashméLadakh aims to enhance the livelihoods of Kashmiri artisans and nomadic goat herders of Ladakh. They work with artisans as a team, where the designs are conceived keeping the revival of traditional techniques in mind. One part of their profits go to an educational foundation dedicated to the children of Kashmiri artisans.

A Pashmina stole or shawl is made with yarn spun out of the downy hair from the neck and underbelly of the Changthangi goat from Ladakh and Tibet. Reared by the nomadic changpa community, the goat sheds its soft, thick coat in summers when it is collected to turn into yarn for the fabulous Pashmina shawls.
