THE STORY
Angarkha style tops, kedias and pretty-as-a-picture dresses from this collection will help you stand out of the crowd. Cotton fabric printed with unusual dabu motifs gives this assortment a contemporary flavor, perfect for the crisp, sunny days ahead
The apparel in this collection uses innovative and uncommon prints, starkly different from the traditional dabu motifs. The 'coconut tree', the 'fish' and geometrical prints seen here are the result of the designer Manisha Monga's inputs along with the creative ideas proposed by the artisans themselves.
The process of dabu printing starts with the application of a mud resist made of 'chuna', wheat chaff and gum, using wood blocks. This is followed by coloring the fabric in a cauldron of dye and then thoroughly washing it to remove the mud application after which the print finally appears.
