Honing traditional skills of hand embroidery and tie-dye, RaasLeela embraces old traditional styles, designs, purposes and methods of creating handicrafts, for these khadi kurtas and reversible cotton jackets. These products are designed by the artisans of Gujarat, who are given the liberty to decide the placement of embroidery, color combinations and use of technique. Traditionally, when there were no stitching machines in the villages of Gujarat, many different stitching techniques were used to create garments. In this collection of apparel, artisans have creatively used some old techniques of making fully hand-stitched garments. RasLeela empowers these women artisans to lead product design, so as to retain and promote traditional aspects of the craft. Hand embroidery is used not just to embellish the fabric but also to stitch it.
