Abstract, almost mystic patterns in deep earthy hues, lend a very peaceful, meditative vibe to this range of hand crafted stoneware jewelry by Ochre. These pieces celebrate the coming together of varied techniques such as the molding of pigmented clay bodies and glazing, apart from employing the textile skills of women quilt-makers from the interiors of rural Saurashtra. The pieces also carry details such as pom-poms and flowers that are recycled out of waste fabric. Ochre studio was started as a tiny home-run setup in Vadod village, Kavita and Titas Ganguly, ceramic artists from NID Ahmedabad and Khadi And Village Industries Corporation, respectively. It has since grown into a renowned ceramic studio known for crafting genuine handmade products using environment friendly production processes, imparting skill development to the rural women, and for generating sustainable livelihoods for the locals.
