Curating a collection of red cotton sarees for Jaypore has been enthralling. The saree in this collection is woven using age-old craft techniques, revealing beautiful designs. Each saree features a traditional and contemporary design made using the finest of materials. Ajrakh, Bandhani, Block print, and Jamdani are a few crafts used in this collection.
Jaypore's red cotton sarees are a work of art. Each saree showcases unique designs made from indigenous craft methods. Let us take a look at our collection:
Ajrakh
Ajrakh originated in the Indus Valley period thousands of years ago. It is one of the oldest surviving craft techniques that is still widely practised in the country. It uses resist-dyes and block-printing methods to create designs typical to the craft. The artisans use various natural materials such as Myrobalan, which is the powdered form of the Harde tree's nuts, tamarind paste, jaggery, and many more for resist dyeing and printing. The entire process can involve anywhere between sixteen to twenty-three steps and several days for the artisans to complete one garment. Our Ajrakh red sarees are soft and vibrant and feature the craft's characteristic print. They are perfect to drape for any light occasion.
Bandhani
Originating from Gujarat, the craft of Bandhani is believed to be 5,000 years old. It is a tie-and-dye technique known for its geometric prints. However, today, we see many other designs as well. The artisans first wash and bleach the garments, and then proceed to tie tiny knots on the fabrics as per the design. Once done, the fabric is then dyed in vibrant colours. While the knotted part of the fabric is undyed, the rest catches the colours. Thus revealing beautiful designs. Our Bandhani red sarees feature elaborate designs that are perfect for any light or festive occasion.
Hand Block-print
Whether you are looking for a cotton red and white saree or otherwise, our hand-block-printed sarees will satisfy your needs. Block printing uses a relief printing technique to make the prints on the fabric. The artisans use a carved wooden block and mostly natural dyes to make the imprints. Our collection of sarees features various traditional floral and geometric prints that are fit for various occasions.
Hand Woven
Our handwoven red cotton sarees are soft to soft-to-the-touch with vibrant shades of red and lightweight texture. These sarees feature various traditional designs and are perfect for any festive event.
Jamdani
The legendary technique of Jamdani is known for producing one of the softest fabrics available in the world. The weaving method involves using a complementary weft to create the designs. It is one of the most complex weaving techniques and is renowned globally. Our Jamdani sarees are available in deep shades with the craft's typical design.
Lehriya
The Lehriya sarees are known for their wave-like pattern inspired by the wind pattern of the Thar desert in Rajasthan. It was among the most preferred sarees of the Rajasthan royalties, who often draped them in various events. Our Lehriya sarees feature typical patterns that are perfect for any festive event. Jaypore's collection of red cotton sarees is available from INR 3,000 to 13,600. They are made from the finest of fabric and are perfect for drapery on various occasions.
Whether it is a plain red cotton saree or an elaborate design, each of Jaypore's sarees is crafted using age-old traditional craft techniques.
