In earlier times, dohars were hugely favored by the aristocrats and noble families of Bengal. As trade flourished in the region, the merchants traded dohars beyond the Bengal borders, reaching various parts of the world. In the next step, the film is placed on the screen. The film is then exposed to bright light for the emulsion to harden and develop. The artist then uses a squeeze to push the ink through the mesh into the fabric to make the print. Using this same technique, our dohars are made. They feature floral and geometric prints and are reversible in nature.
