Few elements in your home add a touch of wispy charm as pleasantly as a curtain. They are put up not merely because of their functional purposes. But also, as a decor element that makes any space warm and inviting. From a floor-grazing curtain to a cropped one, these versatile pieces of fabric become a forever companion for your home.
Curating a collection of cotton curtains for Jaypore has been a delightful experience. Weaved from the finest of cotton, these curtains offer a fusion of traditional and contemporary aesthetics fused into one. Taking a further step into preserving India's age-old and diverse craft techniques, the curtains have been made using these very ancient methods. Thus, offering a charm unlike many.
Curtains are essential home accessories that blur the lines between functional and aesthetic appeal. Integrating these two aspects helps in converting the room into a welcoming space. However, to create such an atmosphere, you need curtains that effortlessly blend into the existing elements. And this could be quite bewildering.
Let us ponder certain factors that you can consider that will clear this confusion and help you choose the right curtain for your home:
Jaypore's cotton curtains are made from the finest premium cotton. Thus, the curtains are lightweight, breathable, and versatile. One thing that makes them unique is the incorporation of age-old traditional craft techniques that create distinct designs and prints. The curtains were made by the local artisan community, which has been practicing the craft for ages.
Let us explore our collection:
Block printing is one of the world's ancient craft techniques. In the Indian subcontinent, it has been in continuous practice since the Indus Valley civilization times. The craft involves using carved wooden blocks to make imprints on the fabric. In the first step, the artisans carve out the designs on the wooden blocks. Once done, they then prepare the dye and dip the wooden blocks in them. Once the blocks are dipped in the dye, they place these blocks onto the fabric and gently apply pressure to make the imprints on the fabric.
Our block print curtains are made using this same ancient technique that remains unchanged to this day. The prints are available in pastel and subtly bright colors that offer a soothing effect to any room. The designs are chiefly floral in nature with a touch of modern Indian aesthetics.
Dabu is practiced in Rajasthan and Gujarat. The craft is known for using the mud resist technique to make the prints on the fabric. After de-starching the fabric, a mud paste is prepared. Mud, also known as Kali Mitti, is in the local language as gum, jaggery, and lime. It is then applied using the carved wooden blocks forming the resist. Sawdust is sprinkled on top of this paste to avoid any smudging and left to be sundried.
After the fabric is dried, it is then dyed using natural dyes derived from various plants. The fabric catches color except on the areas where the resist paste is applied. It is then washed and dried to remove the resist and reveal beautiful designs.
Using this age-old labor-intensive technique, our Dabu cotton curtains are made. The curtains feature hues of blue and indigo, which accentuate your home beautifully. These are ideal for any season and offer a soothing feel.
Embroidery is one of the oldest forms of craft. Even today, it is extensively practiced all over the world. In India, fusing various cultures, the craft of embroidery is as vibrant as it can get. Our embroidered curtains feature vibrant hues that can instantly brighten up any space.
The texture and look of woven fabric are unparalleled. Our woven cotton curtains feature checks, floral prints, and solid colors. They are ideal to add a relaxed, warm, and casual feel to any setting.
Our printed curtains are sheer in nature with contrasting floral prints. They are ideal for pairing with any muted wall color, elevating the look and feel of the room.

Whether it is a cotton door curtain or a window one, styling them is the core of getting a unified look of your home. What is important here is to keep a few things in mind before you choose your curtains and the after-process while you set it up.
Let us have a look at some of the style tips for curtains that you can consider:
Taking care of the curtains ensures hygiene and keeps a fresh look for them. Thoroughly read the wash care label before washing it. Wash them gently using a mild detergent or soap. For curtains with intricate work, you can dry clean them. Ensure that you use only cold water and dry them naturally. However, never dry them out under direct sunlight, as this will discolor the fabric.
Moreover, if you want to iron them, do not use a cold iron or a low heat setting. A high-heat setting has the potential to damage them. Never bleach or wring the curtains. For any spillage, you can spot-clean them using a dry, soft, and moist cloth and gently rub them without causing any damage to them.
